I am a Licensed Independent Social Worker (LISW-S) and Licensed Independent Chemical Dependency Counselor (LICDC). I obtained my Bachelor’s degree in Substance Abuse Counseling in 2012, and in 2015 I obtained my Master’s degree in Social Work, both from the University of Cincinnati. My passion for social work is rooted in social justice and I have been privileged to serve in small non-profit agencies and community mental health settings for nearly 20 years. I have primarily served individuals who are dually managing mental health and substance abuse challenges. The stigma and complexities that accompany these challenges often prevent individuals from reaching out for support. If you are taking this step for the first time or the 100th time, it is rarely easy, but it is always a courageous step to take.
I am best described as collaborative and client-centered however I incorporate a variety of techniques into our therapeutic work. Some of these techniques include: mindfulness practices, exploration of ambivalence around behavior change(s), and a strengths-based perspective of the path that brought you here today. Above all, I hope to provide a space filled with empathy and support and an opportunity for you to define your next chapter.
My peers describe me as down to earth and personable, with an ever-so-slightly sarcastic sense of humor. I believe it is especially important for you to feel comfortable with your therapist so please feel free to reach out with questions. I look forward to speaking with you and working together!
