Hi. I’m Nan Nelson. I’m a double-board-certified psychiatrist specializing in both adult and child and adolescent psychiatry. My medical journey began in Texas, where I completed medical school and then pursued residency training in adult psychiatry and neurology, followed by a fellowship in child and adolescent psychiatry. During my fellowship years, I also had the opportunity to receive additional specialized training in perinatal and women’s mental health, working under the guidance of respected leaders in the field.
Before attending medical school, I earned degrees in both early childhood education and business, which have provided me with a broad foundation for understanding people across the lifespan, as well as the systems that support their care. Throughout my career, I have been passionate about education, advocacy, and creative expression.
I live in northeast Ohio, where I raise two amazing children and share my home with a lively bunch of pets—three cats, a dog, and my daughter’s lizards. I have even written five books. When I’m not seeing patients or writing, you can find me spending time outdoors, enjoying time with my family.
