Hi My name is Paige Cromer. Thanks for taking the time to read a little about me. I am a licensed mental health counselor. I earned my bachelor’s degree in psychology, as well as my master’s degree in mental health counseling from the University of Cincinnati. I have worked with college students and adults focusing on substance use disorders and mental health concerns, including depression, anxiety, adjustment disorder, and other life stressors.
I have studied a wide variety of therapeutic modalities in my graduate school training including motivational interviewing, cognitive behavioral therapy, dialectical behavioral therapy, and emotion focused therapy. When working with individuals I use a person-centered approach that allows you as the client to take direction and help choose areas in which we focus.
My counseling philosophy is that I believe we can cultivate wellness through conscious awareness, deliberate practice, and healing relationships. I trust that people are self-actualizing and can thrive when they nourish their body and mind through self-care. As a therapist it is my job to create a safe space to explore old wounds or current difficulties in life. Our work together is rooted in trust, empathy, genuineness, and unconditional positive regard. Mental suffering is part of the human condition, nevertheless, we can alleviate some pain through radical acceptance and self-compassion. I believe through life we learn how to adapt and survive utilizing various coping methods and mentalities. Sometimes our behaviors and thoughts become maladaptive and cause us significant distress. Together we can explore the how’s and whys of your unique experience and practice new ways of perceiving which align with your personal definition of wellness.
I also love using creativity and humor in the counseling process. Some of my hobbies including hanging out with my corgi and cat, spending time in nature, trying new foods and thrifting.
