If you struggle with mental illness, you may feel isolated and misunderstood. You might feel the need to put on a “mask” to the outside world. My goal as a licensed mental health therapist is to help you feel seen for all that you are. I aim to help you validate and understand your struggles, learn skills, and develop a healthy mindset to mitigate their effects while also identifying and celebrating your unique strengths and talents.
I have previously worked as the clinical lead in a school-based day treatment program for children with behavioral concerns stemming from trauma and mental health issues. I still have a passion for working with children and have completed many play therapy trainings to help serve the needs of this population in an engaging and developmentally appropriate way. I also have expanded my practice to include older teenagers, college students, and young adults. I am invested in helping individuals in these often transitional periods of life to manage stress, anxiety, depression, and other mental illnesses as they continue to discover and cultivate their best selves.
I utilize a warm and open approach to therapy and recognize the importance of a collaborative dynamic, as clients are the experts of their own experiences. I draw upon a CBT model of human behavior and emotions and integrate cognitive techniques into my practice. I also utilize DBT coping skills, psychoeducation, and practice.
I commend you for taking the first step toward removing the mask and uncovering your true self, and I am committed to helping you in this process.
