Deep TMS Therapy:
Help your patients conquer major depression
Has your patient been struggling with major depression, but psychiatric medications and antidepressants haven’t worked?
Mindfully’s Deep TMS therapy may be the solution you’ve been looking for.
Does your patient have treatment-resistant depression?
Approximately 1 out of 3 people fail to achieve remission from depression after medication for anxiety and depression drug treatments. This is known as treatment-resistant depression. If your patient has tried medication for depression or anxiety and it hasn’t work, they are not alone.
Mindfully’s Deep TMS therapy (Deep Transcranial Magnetic Stimulation) may alleviate your patients’ major depression or anxious depression.
What is Deep TMS therapy?
Mindfully’s Deep TMS therapy is a well-established, proven, non-invasive procedure. It uses magnetic fields to stimulate nerve cells in the brain to alleviate symptoms of major depression and anxiety.
Mindfully offers BrainsWay Deep TMS – the most advanced TMS technology available. Our BrainsWay Deep TMS uses a patented H-Coil design that provides broader and deeper stimulation than traditional TMS coils. This results in greater activation of neurons, lower targeting errors seen with other TMS therapies, and higher effectiveness.
Our Deep TMS therapy is an in-office, non-surgical treatment. When your patients undergo TMS therapy, they will be seated comfortably while our clinician places a specialized padded helmet on their heads. Each session only lasts about 20 to 30 minutes, and the person will remain awake and alert throughout the process.
Who can benefit from Deep TMS therapy?
If your patient is an adult (18+) who has been two or more unsuccessful psychiatric medications for depression and has a PHQ-9 score of 15 or higher (i.e., suffers from moderate or severe depression), he or she may be a candidate for TMS therapy.
Unlike regular TMS therapy, Mindfully’s Deep TMS therapy is the only type of TMS treatment that is approved by the FDA to treat all adults, even those over the age of 68.
Now with Deep TMS therapy, the burden of treatment-resistant major depression can be alleviated.
Are there side effects with Deep TMS therapy?
Typically, there are no systemic side effects with TMS therapy. It is a non-invasive in-office procedure; each session takes approximately 20 minutes. There is no downtime after treatment. Most people undergoing treatment can drive, work, or resume other normal daily activities immediately after treatment.

What is the success rate of Deep TMS therapy?
Mindfully’s FDA-approved Deep TMS therapy offers hope for those struggling with major depression where traditional treatments like medication for depression and anxiety haven’t worked. With a clinically proven 70% positive response rate and 40% remission rate, many patients begin to notice improvements within just a few sessions.
Full remission typically takes 6-8 weeks.

Who can benefit from Deep TMS Therapy?
Deep TMS therapy is designed for adults (18 and older) who are struggling with moderate to severe depression, especially those who haven’t found relief through traditional treatment approaches. If your client has tried two or more psychiatric medications without success and has a PHQ-9 score of 15 or higher, they may be a strong candidate for this innovative treatment.
What sets Mindfully’s advanced Deep TMS (Transcranial Magnetic Stimulation) apart is that we use a unique H-coil technology developed by BrainsWay. Unlike traditional TMS, BrainsWay’s Deep TMS is the only TMS modality FDA-approved for treating major depressive disorder in adults of all ages, including those over 68, a population often underrepresented in clinical trials and underserved in treatment options.
As a mental health professional, you may work with clients who are fully engaged in therapy but still feel weighed down by persistent symptoms of depression. Deep TMS can offer the symptom relief they need to better engage in the therapeutic process and regain momentum in their daily lives.
Is TMS safe and evidence based?
Yes—Transcranial Magnetic Stimulation (TMS) is both safe and strongly supported by clinical research. TMS is FDA-approved for treatment-resistant depression and has over a decade of peer-reviewed studies backing its efficacy and safety. It’s a well-established option for clients who haven’t found sufficient relief through medication or talk therapy alone.
One of the key benefits of TMS is that it’s non-invasive and non-systemic—meaning it doesn’t involve surgery or medication circulating through the body. Instead, TMS uses magnetic pulses to stimulate underactive areas of the brain involved in mood regulation. Sessions are conducted in-office, and clients can return to their usual activities immediately afterward.
Side effects are minimal compared to many psychiatric medications. Most commonly, clients report mild scalp discomfort or headaches that typically lessen over time. There’s no sedation, no cognitive dulling, and no systemic side effects, which makes it an attractive option for clients sensitive to medications or concerned about long-term pharmacological impacts.
The outcomes speak for themselves: 82% of patients who complete a full course of TMS therapy report a meaningful reduction in depressive symptoms, and many experience a significant improvement in overall functioning and quality of life. For some, TMS offers the breakthrough they’ve been waiting for—a chance to re-engage more fully in therapy and daily life.
For clinicians, TMS can be a powerful adjunctive tool. It doesn’t replace the therapeutic relationship—it helps clients access it more deeply by alleviating symptoms that stand in the way. If you’re supporting a client who feels stuck despite consistent therapeutic work, TMS may be a safe, evidence-based next step worth exploring together.
How does TMS fit into the therapeutic process?
TMS (Transcranial Magnetic Stimulation) isn’t a replacement for therapy; it’s a complementary tool that can support and enhance the work you’re already doing with your clients. For individuals experiencing treatment-resistant depression, TMS addresses the neurological symptoms that often interfere with therapeutic progress, even when a client is fully engaged and motivated to heal.
Depression can impair a person’s ability to connect emotionally, think clearly, or find the energy to participate meaningfully in therapy. When clients experience persistent symptoms such as:
- Low motivation or energy
- Difficulty concentrating
- Emotional numbness or detachment
By using non-invasive magnetic pulses to stimulate underactive areas of the brain involved in mood regulation, TMS helps lift the biological burden of depression—often with minimal side effects and without disrupting a client’s daily life. Clients frequently report that as their symptoms improve, they’re better able to:
- Engage in therapy sessions more deeply
- Apply therapeutic insights in real-world situations
- Reconnect with their emotions and relationships
- Regain a sense of purpose and direction
Rather than disrupting the therapeutic process, TMS can reignite it. It clears the path for deeper psychological work, increased self-awareness, and meaningful behavioral change. For many clients, it’s the missing piece that allows therapy to finally take hold in a lasting way.
How can I stay involved in my client’s care during TMS?
At Mindfully Psychiatry, we value collaborative care and actively encourage therapist involvement throughout the TMS process. With your client’s consent, you can:
- Share clinical insights securely to help inform treatment and maintain continuity of care
- Receive progress updates throughout your client’s TMS treatment course
- Coordinate care plans to ensure a unified, supportive approach to their recovery
We view therapy and TMS as partners in healing. Staying connected helps your client get the most from both modalities.
How should I talk to clients about TMS?
Approach the conversation with compassion and partnership. You’re not giving up on therapy; you’re helping your client access another tool that might help them reconnect with themselves and the work you’re doing together. You might say something like:
“We’ve been doing a lot of important work together, and I know how committed you are to your healing. Sometimes, depression has a biological grip that makes progress feel slower or harder. TMS is a non-invasive treatment that targets the brain circuits involved in mood—and for many people, it can help lift that fog just enough to make therapy more effective.”
Framing TMS as an adjunct—not a replacement—to therapy helps clients see it as a continuation of their healing journey, not a detour. You’re reinforcing that they’re not alone, that there are options, and that hope doesn’t have to fade when one approach falls short.
TMS can be a game-changer for clients who feel stuck despite their best efforts. When we offer it as a supportive next step, we empower our clients to reclaim momentum—and sometimes, that’s what opens the door to deeper, more transformative therapeutic work.
What’s the benefit of collaborating with Mindfully Psychiatry?
When you collaborate with Mindfully Psychiatry, you’re not just referring a client—you’re building a trusted care partnership that prioritizes whole-person healing. We understand how important it is for clients to feel supported by a cohesive treatment team, and we work hard to make that collaboration seamless and meaningful.
Better outcomes for shared clients
When therapy and psychiatry work hand-in-hand, clients benefit from more informed treatment decisions and aligned care plans. Our psychiatric providers respect and support the therapeutic process and are happy to collaborate on medication strategies that complement the work you’re doing in session. The result? Clients often feel more stable, more hopeful, and more engaged in therapy.
Stronger referral relationships
We value your trust and take our role in your client’s care seriously. Our team communicates promptly, shares relevant updates (with consent), and welcomes your clinical insights. We’re here to be part of your client’s support system—not to replace the therapeutic relationship you’ve built. Over time, this creates strong, dependable referral partnerships you can count on.
Increased client satisfaction from coordinated care
Clients notice—and appreciate—when their providers are on the same page. A well-coordinated care team reduces confusion, minimizes gaps in treatment, and helps clients feel seen, heard, and supported from multiple angles. That kind of wraparound care not only leads to better clinical outcomes, but also builds trust and satisfaction with the overall mental health experience.
At Mindfully, we believe that therapy and psychiatry are most powerful when they work together. We’re honored to collaborate with fellow mental health professionals who share our commitment to client-centered care. Let’s help more clients thrive—together.
Will I lose my client if they start TMS with Mindfully Psychiatry?
No. TMS is a complementary treatment, not a replacement for therapy. Most clients continue therapy throughout their TMS course. In fact, many therapists report that clients become more engaged in therapy once depressive symptoms begin to lift.
Clients should continue with their therapy sessions during their TMS treatments. Doing both TMS and talk therapy should result in improved outcomes.
Is TMS affordable?
Mindfully Psychiatry accepts most major insurance like Medicaid for TMS therapy, making this an affordable solution for many people.
