Hi, I’m Dr. Darla Slagh, a Licensed Professional Clinical Counselor with a passion for walking alongside others through seasons of change, grief, and healing. With a PhD in Counselor Education and Supervision and over two decades of clinical and supervisory experience, I’ve had the privilege of helping individuals from all walks of life, including those in residential rehab, MAT clinics, nursing homes, and individuals experiencing homelessness. My clinical focus is rooted in helping people process grief, build coping skills, and navigate major life transitions with strength and self-compassion.
In addition to my clinical work, I’ve spent years in higher education as a professor and mentor, supporting future counselors in their academic and professional journeys. Teaching has not only deepened my knowledge but reinforced my belief in the power of the therapeutic relationship. I incorporate evidence-based practices such as EMDR and trauma-informed care, and I believe therapy should be a collaborative, respectful, and empowering experience. I take pride in adapting my approach to meet each client’s unique needs, culture, and goals.
Outside of counseling and teaching, I bring life experience from a variety of roles, including over 25 years as a shift supervisor in air traffic control and co-owning a small aviation business. These experiences have shaped my grounded, real-world approach to therapy. Whether you’re dealing with grief, stress, addiction, or life’s everyday challenges, I’d be honored to work with you. Together, we can find clarity, build resilience, and create a path forward that feels meaningful and authentic to you.
