Thank you for taking the time to learn more about me! I believe that you’ve already made an important step toward improving yourself, and I hope that I can help you through whatever struggles and changes are happening in your life.
My name is Steven Otto, and I graduated with a Master of Arts in Clinical Mental Health Counseling: Music Therapy from Lesley University. With this degree, I have dual licensure as a Licensed Professional Counselor (LPC) and a Music Therapist-Board Certified (MT-BC). I most enjoy working with people ages 13 and up. Also, I have additional expertise in working with people who have schizophrenia, bipolar disorder, LGBTQ+ identities, and individuals who have experienced trauma. I have worked in inpatient psychiatric hospitals, day treatment programs, and intensive outpatient/partial hospitalization groups. I am also trained as a Therapeutic Game Master from Geek Therapeutics, where I learned how to use games like Dungeons and Dragons to bring about beneficial change.
Music, popular culture, humor, and other special interests already hold therapeutic power. Still, they can be used intentionally along with mental health counseling theories to craft a unique and meaningful healing journey. My therapeutic philosophy is finding out where you stand with your life right now, using solution-focused and behavioral methods to learn to grow outside of sessions, and creating a safe and comfortable environment so you feel welcome to share as much as you like.
I would love to chat with you if you are still interested in what I can offer. I am happy to meet in person at our comfortable office location or online (via our HIPAA-compliant video conference software).
Wherever you go or whatever you decide, I hope you keep learning, growing, and caring for yourself.
