More About Stranda Thurman

Hi, I’m Stranda Thurman, a Master of Social Work (MSW) candidate with a strong foundation in both clinical care and client support. My passion for helping others is grounded in over a decade of professional experience in healthcare, training, and client services, where I’ve worked closely with individuals and families navigating complex emotional, medical, and life challenges. With a background in social science and child development, I bring a thoughtful, developmentally informed perspective to my work with clients of all ages.

Throughout my career, I’ve developed a compassionate, client-centered approach rooted in trauma-informed care, crisis intervention, and evidence-based practices like Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT) and Dialectical Behavior Therapy (DBT). Whether I’m working with individuals, couples, or families, I strive to create a safe, empathetic space where people feel heard, respected, and empowered. My clinical interests include anxiety, life transitions, relational challenges, and helping clients reconnect with their values and inner strengths.

I believe that therapy is a collaborative journey, one where trust, honesty, and connection lead the way to meaningful growth. I’m here to walk alongside you as you navigate your challenges, build resilience, and move toward healing. I offer both in-person and telehealth sessions and would be honored to support you wherever you are in your mental health journey. If you’re ready to take that next step, I look forward to connecting with you.

Note: Stranda Thurman is a dedicated master’s-level student currently receiving supervision from Maria Ponzi Judy to provide you with the highest quality care. This collaborative approach ensures that your counseling experience is supported by a team committed to your growth and well-being. Maria will be actively involved in overseeing clinical aspects of your care, including attending some sessions and reviewing diagnostic and treatment plans to ensure they are tailored to your needs. If you have any questions about this process, Stranda or Maria would be happy to discuss them with you. Together, they are here to support your journey.
